Karin | Equine Magic

"There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his horse."
- A.S. Surtees -

I had the chance to spend some time with Karin and her horses one afternoon in September. Karin is a good friend of my mother-in-law as both of them share the love for horses.

Karin is such a beautiful lady and she loves her three horses and from what I could see they also love her. I have really started to recognize the bond between a rider and her horse. It truly is special. I always just thought it's just a horse, but they are way more than just majestic creatures that where used in war and to pull princesses from castle to castle. They are unique and truly have their own little quirks and personalities, which I find so intriguing.

Karin thank you for a magical afternoon!

Enjoy the photos!!

Hafsa | Mehndi Celebration

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies."
-Aristotle-

As you all know Hafsa is my dear friend from work and once again she braved it in front of my camera, but this time it was a little bit more special as Hafsa and Mickey finally tied the knot. I didn't take their wedding pictures as I was guest, but rather got the honour to photograph her Mehndi the night before!

Hafsa was a beautiful bride and once again super easy to photograph as she is such a natural beauty. Today my gorgeous friend is Mrs Essop!! Hiep-Hiep-Hooray!!

Hope you enjoy this shoot!!

Baby Stuart | Cake Smash

"Cake makes everything better"
-Anon-

Stuart and Marlette are dear friends of ours and their little baby boy, Stuart, turned one in September. I was super stoked for this shoot as it was a special one.

Many people know me as a "non-baker" but as this was a special occasion I tried my hand at it. Very surprised at the results as the cake turned out quite pretty and tasty too! But alas Vintage Elephant Photography will not be supplying cakes in the near future as cake baking is HARD WORK! :)

Even though there wasn't an actual cake smash it was still pretty special. Stuart was teething and had an off day and the warm weather also didn't help. I now understand why they are so difficult during this time as I can only imagine what they are going through. I take off my hat to all the mommies and daddies out there having to go through this with their babies.

One thing I also realized during the shoot, was that I have a huge support system. Without knowing it my family and husband get pulled into all my crazy photography ideas and dreams. They are always there to help move things, hold things or just be there for moral support. Thank you to my awesome family and husband;Shaun, I love you all!

Well that is my bit of inspiration for the week! Now for the photos.

Enjoy!

PS Have some cake today!! :)
